Environment & Biodiversity
In environment and biodiversity, Annapurna has worked with the Department of Biotechnology and the Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board to document and preserve local biodiversity through Public Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) in more than 30 villages. Biodiversity Management Committees were formed and awareness sessions conducted to promote understanding of traditional and ecological knowledge, while farmers were introduced to beekeeping and eco-agriculture practices.
Key Activities & Outcomes
- Biodiversity Documentation Project (PBR)With the Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board (2023–2024): 69 People's Biodiversity Registers completed and 30 Biodiversity Management Committees constituted.
- Tree Plantation in Ashram SchoolsWith local Gram Panchayats & the Forest Department (2024, ongoing): 500 students engaged in plantation drives and environmental awareness.
- Swachh Maharashtra, Samruddha Maharashtra CampaignWith the Women & Child Development Dept., ZP Satara (2025): environmental sensitisation of 250 participants through plantation and clean-green community action.
- School Cleanliness & Environmental AwarenessSupported by ICFRE and CYDA (2025–2026): training, attendance and photo-documented awareness programmes.
