Who We Are

A grassroots institution, rooted in Chikhali since 2010

Annapurna Sewabhavi Sanstha (ASS) is a grassroots, not-for-profit development organisation dedicated to promoting inclusive, equitable and sustainable change in rural communities across Maharashtra, Odisha and Telangana. Established in 2010 and legally registered under the Societies Registration Act (Registration No. Maha/13335/Satara), Annapurna operates from its headquarters in Chikhali, Tal-Karad, District Satara.

Over the past decade and a half, ASS has emerged as a committed, community-rooted institution focused on the needs of marginalised populations — especially women, children, Scheduled Castes, and economically disadvantaged families.

Our Approach

Beyond welfare delivery, toward systemic change

At the core of Annapurna's work is a vision to build a self-reliant and empowered rural society, assured of food security, safe drinking water, gender equality, good health, literacy and a clean environment. Guided by values of honesty, participation, equity and social justice, Annapurna takes a rights-based, participatory approach that goes beyond welfare delivery to enable systemic change through community ownership and empowerment.

Our interventions are integrated and context-responsive, addressing the multifaceted dimensions of rural poverty and social exclusion. We partner with local governments, civil society institutions and development stakeholders to implement culturally appropriate, need-based programmes across women’s empowerment, skill development and livelihoods, health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, biodiversity conservation, youth development and civic awareness.

Headquartered in Chikhali (Tal-Karad, Dist. Satara), Annapurna's programmes reach 70+ villages across Satara and Sangli districts directly, with training, livelihood and CSR partnerships extending into Odisha and Telangana.
